Dropbox Uploader 0.12 Released [Bash Script To Access Dropbox Via Command Line]

<div style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://github.com/andreafabrizi/Dropbox-Uploader">Dropbox Uploader</a> is a bash script that allows you to perform various actions on your <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/">Dropbox</a> (upload, download, delete, share, etc.) without installing the Dropbox client. This is useful for servers, automatic backups or accessing Dropbox from ARM devices, like Raspberry Pi.</div><br /><a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: justify;">The script was updated recently, getting a copy function, a "-s" option to skip existing files when uploading/downloading (files are overwritten by default), along with other changes. </div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Here are the <b>changes in the latest Dropbox Uploader 0.12:</b></div><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>added copy function;</li><li>added <i>-s</i> option to skip existing files when upload/download;</li><li>fixed problem uploading twice the same directory;</li><li>add checking for not allowed file names;</li><li>handling connection/resolving host errors;</li><li>better error handling;</li><li>converted if condition to BASH native syntax;</li><li>added normalize_path function, to canonicalize paths;</li><li>removed check for free quota on every file upload to improve performance;</li><li>added checks for file permissions before writing/reading files on the local fs;</li><li>fixed unicode problem in file listing;</li><li>many other minor changes and improvements.</li></ul><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>Since our last article about Dropbox Uploader</b>, the script has received numerous improvements, including <b>support for downloading and uploading directories</b>, move/rename function and more.</div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">The latest Dropbox Uploader 0.12 supports the following commands: upload, download, delete, move, copy, mkdir, list, share, info and unlink. There are also some optional parameters, like the newly added "-s" to skip already existing files when uploading or downloading, "-p" to show curl progress meter and more.</div><br /><br /><h2>Download and install Dropbox Uploader</h2><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Dropbox Uploader depends on Bash and Curl. Dropbox Uploader Bash Script: Useful For Servers, Raspberry Pi And More

<div style="text-align: justify;"><b><a href="https://github.com/andreafabrizi/Dropbox-Uploader">Dropbox Uploader</a> is a bash script you can use to access your <a href="http://www.dropbox.com/">Dropbox</a> files from the command line, without having to install the Dropbox client. The script can upload, download, delete, share or list the files available in your Dropbox account.</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The script is useful in many situations, including: automatic backups, access Dropbox from an ARM server / <b><a href="http://www.webupd8.org/2012/02/raspberry-pi-computer-goes-on-sale.html">Raspberry Pi</a></b>, etc. (since Dropbox isn't available for ARM). That's because its only requirement is cURL, so you don't have to install the Dropbox client to quickly upload or download some files from Dropbox.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: justify;">Dropbox Uploader isn't just for Linux and it should work on Mac OSX, FreeBSD or Windows/Cygwin too. Also, since it uses the official Dropbox API for the authentication process, you don't have to enter your username and password and you can easily revoke its access to your account from the Dropbox website.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The first time your run the script, you must create a Dropbox app and allow the script to access your Dropbox account. How To Install Dropbox In Xubuntu And Get Thunar Integration (Xfce)

Now simply open Dropbox from the menu (it's under Internet) and follow the setup wizard, then skip to step 2.</div><br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>For those who are using an older Xubuntu version or another Linux distribution, you can manually install Dropbox without the Nautilus dependency using the commands below:</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><b>32bit:</b><br /><pre class="linux-code"><code>cd && wget -O - "http://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86" | tar xzf -</code></pre><br /><b>64bit:</b><br /><pre class="linux-code"><code>cd && wget -O - "http://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64" | tar xzf -</code></pre><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">To start the Dropbox daemon (and the setup wizard if this is the first time you're installing Dropbox), use the following command in a terminal:</div><pre class="linux-code"><code>~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd</code></pre><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Once you're done, you'll have to <b>add Dropbox to startup</b> so from the menu select <i>Settings > Session and Startup</i> and on the <i>Applications Autostart</i> tab, click "Add" and use the following:</div><ul><li>under "Name", enter "Dropbox"</li><li>under "Command", enter "/home/YOURUSERNAME/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd" - without the quotes; replace "YOURUSERNAME" with your username.</li></ul>Then click OK and you're done.<br /><br /><br /><b>2. Install the Dropbox Thunar extension.  </b><br /><br />Crunchbang provides thunar-dropbox deb packages that work with Xubuntu 12.04 - download the debs below:<br /><ul><li><a href="http://packages.crunchbang.org/waldorf/pool/main/thunar-dropbox-plugin_0.2.0-1_i386.deb">32bit</a></li><li><a href="http://packages.crunchbang.org/waldorf/pool/main/thunar-dropbox-plugin_0.2.0-1_amd64.deb">64bit</a></li></ul><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />I've tested the above packages with Xubuntu 12.04 and they work, but they may not work with other Xubuntu versions, so if you're not using Xubuntu 12.04, grab the Dropbox Thunar extension source from <a href="http://softwarebakery.com/maato/thunar-dropbox.html">HERE</a> (you'll have to compile it). Obviously, they also work if you're using Thunar in another desktop environment, like GNOME (Unity).</div><br />Arch Linux users can install thunar-dropbox from <a href="http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=39214">AUR</a>.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Note: <i>Dropbox needs to be running for the Thunar context menu items for Dropbox to show up.</i></div>
