For this, you must complete a quest before October 25: join the Steam Universe community group, agree to the Steam Hardware Beta Terms and Conditions, make 10 Steam friends, create a public Steam Community profile and play a game using a gamepad in Big Picture mode. Once you complete these steps, you'll be awarded a special badge and be among the pool of people that can be chosen to test the new hardware.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">According to Valve, the new Steam machines will be "completely upgradable and open" and starting next year, there will be multiple machines to choose from, made by different manufacturers. Steam March Survey Stats: Linux Usage Has Decreased

Another reason could be the addition of many new Linux distributions: for February, only Ubuntu, Linux Mint and "Linux 64" were displayed in the stats but for March you'll notice a pretty big list of Linux distributions, including Gentoo, Debian, openSUSE, Arch Linux, elementary OS, Fedora, Chakra, Sabayon and so on, of which many show up with 0%.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">As expected, in March, Ubuntu continues to have the most Steam for Linux users with 1.15% of all Steam OSes. Linux Mint comes in second, with 0.21%, followed by "Linux 64 bit" with 0.11% ("Linux 64bit" are probably Linux distributions that aren't detected by Steam) and Arch Linux with 0.04%.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Judging by these stats, the Steam Linux market share doesn't seem to be able to go past ~2% but we should see a huge increase once Steambox is released. Since the game isn't grayed out, it means that it's installed so Dota 2 is probably in the process of being ported to Linux.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">A few users have asked if Dota 2 will indeed be available on Linux, but Matthew did not reply. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">But since Dota 2 uses the Source engine, like Counter-Strike: Source, which is already <a href="http://www.webupd8.org/2013/02/counter-strike-source-closure.html">available</a> for Linux, it is likely, also considering the above screenshot, that Dota 2 will be available natively on Linux. <br /><br />There were already rumors about Dota 2 being ported to Linux, but now we have proof (well, if the screenshot is accurate) that it's being worked on, so let's hope for a release soon.
