Alleged photos of Nokia’s upcoming phone codenamed Catwalk have surfaced on Chinese website, Baidu. Two images of a Nokia Lumia handset with metal or metal-like side frames, claiming to be the rumored Catwalk phone.
As seen in these images, we notice a mini USB port at the top of the device alongside a 3.5mm audio jack and a SIM slot or an HDMI slot. However, the phone appears to have an aluminum strip defining the sides only instead of the whole body. There is no way to confirm whether the photos are legit but if they are then Nokia seems to have stuck with plastic for the back, which flashes a repositioned LED flash, a camera which is a bit protruded than seen in predecessors and speaker grills at the bottom. Also given at the bottom are three connection points hinting at the device to get a dock of its own or even wireless charging.
Nokia is for long rumored to be working on the Catwalk, which will be the successor of its popular Lumia 920 phone but will don an aluminum frame instead of polycarbonate one. The Catwalk is expected to be unveiled at an event on May 15 in London.
Recently, on the sidelines of the Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 launch, Nokia’s vice president for smart devices – UX Design, Nikki Barton told that Nokia has always been experimenting with the material used to build the frame to suit the design factor, hinting at the possible metal frame adoption. The phone in the images also looks sleeker, which could also be a part of their new design strategy as Barton also pointed on making their new Lumia devices thinner and lighter.
