The Internet has been recently abuzz with rumors about Motorola’s next flagship phone, only known as the X-Phone and expected to be unveiled at Google’s I/O in May. Now, in an interview with PCMag, Motorola’s design chief Jim Wicks gives an insight into the kind of devices we can expect from the now Google-owned company.
In a market where the product designers seem to be drawing up new mobile devices with a philosophy of ‘bigger is better’, Jim Wicks revealed that Motorola is taking a less trodden path with their philosophy of ‘better is better.’ “Certain people like a large screen, but there’s also a lot of people that want something that’s just about right. I think ‘just right’ is important, and we’re designing so we don’t disappoint those people,” said Wicks.
In addition to the ‘right’ size, Wicks also revealed that these smaller handsets will be sporting bigger displays thanks to a very narrow bezel and will also be scratch and shock resistant. Wicks also revealed that Motorola won’t be getting into the specs war with other manufacturers and will be going the Nexus way by providing a stock Android experience on their handsets.
All this sounds rather exciting and it will be interesting to see what kind of phones Motorola finally release. It is difficult to say though if or when we would get to see these devices considering Motorola shut its business in India back in November.Please give your views.
